BODY AND ART IN THE DIGITAL AGE
INTRODUCTION TO THE BLOG
By Rosario Gómez
The aesthetic experience helps us to expand the limits to which we have circumscribed our "real world". Art works like a peripheral device that brings us new percetive approaches to return to our central issues with renewed perspectives.
This blog tois oriented to understand the body as a means of communication and symbol of sociocultural values from the perspective of art in the digital age.
With an informative spirit, my desire is to limit from the artistic reflection, different interesting categories about the representations of the body in our time, highlight the sections on the body and technology with their new relationship models and sexuation. The section of the body cult is focused from a market vision that includes sociological considerations and from another point of view a holistic vision is shown with illustrations of the New Age.
Diverse historical visions and considerations of several specialized authors, will be the guiding thread of this journey, in which I promptly add brief personal considerations. My stamp is reflected in the selection of artists and theories or ideas that I wish to echo.
I present the work as a collage, a text understood as Barthes, in which the main task has been the selection and reordering of different materials for make it fit the subject, for this I use an extensive reading of doctoral theses, books, magazines, catalogs of artists and opinion articles that are being reflected in the literature. I use the pinterest network to illustrate aspects of the blog and some photographs, protected by the protection laws of research works. (The pinterest network facilitates a freedom in the use of illustrations in another unthinkable time, however, it does not allow rearranging the pine images, so that a certain chaos can be seen in some panels that intend to give a general view on a specific topic).
This blog is informative, does not keep lucrative.
I hope to continue expanding content over time with new original works and other topics of interest. RG
The video, entitled Solipsist and directed by Andrew Huang, is solved in three main scenes, and as a whole it shows a great originality and colorism marked by various interaction processes. In the Part Two women, who move evoking the movement of the waves, are being enervated by a kind of virtual algae that envelops them until they become part of the vegetation, they phagocytize them. The second part raises new technological modes of relationship between simulated animals that look like plants with autonomous movement. The third part, with tribal resonances in the paintings of the body, continues to transgress the habitual models of relationship, poses an empathic process between two actors that provokes the dissolution in particles of the organism itself when communicating with another organism that turns its back on it. It seems an act of communication full of solemnity and transcendence that evokes shamanism and advances us in the field of technological sensitivity. The psychedelic explosions of color at the end of the video, remind me of the Holi festival in India in which everyone throws colors into space and permeate the participants filling the atmosphere of joie de vivre.
