Imaginary Tourism in Cervera del Río Alhama (Rioja)
Petrogenesis is a digital art project, a photobook about a small town located in La Rioja, the place where I was born. It is nestled between mountains and surrounded by rocks for which I feel a great fascination. According to the critic Ralph Prins, "the photobook is an autonomous form of art, comparable to a sculpture, a play or a movie." The idea of a photobook begins in the 1920s with the historical vanguards and today we are witnessing a golden age.
My desire has been to create a fantasy, a fictional plot between a real Cervera and another imagined that intersect with freedom. The stony activity that transforms the town, promotes an architectural genesis that, to a certain extent, evokes architectures located in the rocks of other enviable places. My goal has been to recreate some aspects of popular culture, together with the onirism that Rioja wines enjoy, which enjoy world fame and promote this rather forgotten part of deep Spain with a bit of fantasy, under the motto Dreaming is precise.
As a curiosity, on the side panel you can see some architectures of this book integrated with real rock architectures. RG.
A prototype of the photo book is available, it can be printed on demand. It stands out for its rarity and is unique for its originality, it is not easy to find global background of this type of work, it is an atypical essay in the field of art-advertising relations in that in a fictitious and embellished frame are mentioned places and events interesting that define the touristic interest of Cervera del Río Alhama.
